Technology
St. Francis Xavier has embraced technology within the K-8 curriculum. Our faculty and staff are committed to using innovative technology to engage our students in a new and interactive way. Offering a head start for tomorrow's professionals, today.
Technology not only enhances learning but also helps students to explore and understand the world around them. It is used to perpetuate old models of teaching and learning into new models and opportunities like never before. For instance, when learning about the once thought of planet Pluto, our students can now visit NASA's web site immediately, and understand why on August 24, 2006 the International Astronomical Union formally downgraded Pluto from an official planet to a dwarf planet before the books have officially been updated. We like to regularly recite the quote from Karl Fisch of Arapahoe High School:
"We are currently preparing students for jobs that don't exist, yet using technologies that haven't been invented in order to solve problems we don't even know are problems yet."
St. Francis will continue to equip our faculty, staff, and students with latest learning tools available. We offer high speed internet access, provide wireless access points, and have installed interactive whiteboard system, or SMART Board within each classroom.
The power of Technology and how it is transforming our students every day is profound. Technology not only makes learning engaging and fun, but it also assists our teachers and faculty in instructional and professional development.
