Letter of Gratitude

08-16-2020From Fr. FambriniFather Robert Fambrini, S.J.

Dear fellow parishioners of St. Francis Xavier:

A couple of weeks ago I celebrated the first anniversary of my arrival here at our parish. It has been a year of adjustment, change and challenge. As you know by now, St. Francis Xavier is different from any of the other four parishes of which I was pastor.

I am grateful for many things, first among them your warm welcome (and not simply because I arrived in July!) and cooperation. This is the longest time I have lived out of state in my time as a priest and in the process I have come to like the desert, the slower pace and the fact that, even before Covid, I hardly use my car. Nice to live so close to work! (PS: I am not missing San Jose.)

I am grateful for my Jesuit community. I could not imagine a nicer group of people to be marooned with during a pandemic!

I am grateful for a dedicated parish staff who ensured that our operations continued without interruption throughout the past five months. These “behind the scenes” employees have handled everything from the daily maintenance of our church and facilities to drafting the weekly bulletin and planning our streamed Mass. They have been here every day to provide a touchstone through turbulent times.

I am grateful for our new staff members and anticipate the ideas and energy they bring to their new positions. Welcome to Maria de Jesus and Deacon Jaime Garcia (faith formation), Josh Condon (music director) and Fr. George Teodoro (Pastoral ministry)!

I am grateful for our wonderful school community, led by Mr. Ryan Watson (also celebrating his first anniversary) and his fine faculty and staff and the dedicated families who have taken on the additional role as teachers. Word has gone out through the diocese of what a special place our school is as a Christ-centered community which stresses service and caring. I have very much missed the presence of the children on our campus. They bring so much life!

I am grateful for your generosity. You have not forgotten us during these stressful days of uncertainty and stress, providing for our continued ministry. We would not be able to continue with our ministry without your help. Thank you!

The entire parish must feel a special sense of gratitude upon the completion of our capital campaign. Many long years and much hard work. Congratulations! I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

My second year begins with much which is unknown but I am certain that in this faith-filled community, God will ever be at our side.

We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers, unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1: 2-3

(PD: No estoy extrañando San José).

Muchos largos años y demasiado trabajo duro. ¡Felicidades! He peleado una buena batalla, he terminado mi carrera, he mantenido la fe. 2 Timoteo 4:7

1 Tesalonicenses 1: 2-3
