This letter is to let you know that I have received permission from my Jesuit provincial to retire in the next couple of months. The majority of my priestly ministry has been here in Phoenix, either at Brophy College Prep for nine years in the 1970s or Saint Francis Xavier Parish for 18 years, and 12th of those years I served as pastor. So I have deep roots here.

My health has been good. Yet there are signs of the aging process showing up as I turned 82 years old in January 2024. Thus, I will be moving to Sacred Heart Jesuit retirement center in Los Gatos, California, within the next few months; exact time to be determined. (It was at the same location I enter the Jesuit order 62 years ago.)

Words are not adequate to express my gratitude for being at St. Francis Xavier Parish, for these many years and for the kindness, support and love that you have shown me. The mission of a retired Jesuit us to pray for the church, and the society of Jesus. Saint Francis Xavier Parish, and you will be in my prayer each and every day.

Esta carta es para informarle que he recibido permiso de mi provincial jesuita para jubilarme en los próximos meses. La mayor parte de mi ministerio sacerdotal ha sido aquí en Phoenix, ya sea en Preparatoria Brophy durante nueve años en la década de 1970 o en la parroquia Saint Francis Xavier durante 18 años, y el duodécimo de esos años serví como párroco. Entonces tengo raíces profundas aquí.

Mi salud ha sido buena. Sin embargo, hay signos del proceso de envejecimiento que aparecen cuando cumplí 82 años en enero de 2024.
